Mbizi is the Shona word for Zebra. This beautiful Mbizi finger puppet is lovingly handmade by a group of talented womenin Zimbabwe who knit to provide for their families.Many of these ladies are the sole providers for their children and dependents, and by utilizing their skills they are able to support and uplift themselves, their homes, and family directly. Each handmade animal comes tagged with the name and picture of its maker, thereby personally connecting you to its origin.
Zimbabwe is in crisis. Hard economictimes are upon the people of Zimbabwe, and the struggle to find any piece of hope to hold onto is very real. Knitting these little friendsnot only provides an income for these women, but also hope and a sense of purpose.With the pressure many of these women feel, the kitting workplace offers an inclusive work environment where they can share, celebrate, and support one another whilst enjoying a cup of tea.
